Frequently asked questions
Enshrouded
How should I assess a world with extensive building and excavation?
Measure with your existing save containing its terrain edits and large structures. Observe CPU and memory use and save duration during both busy construction and exploration, then compare packages against those needs.
Does increasing the player-slot setting prove usable capacity?
No. Treat the configured slot count separately from measured demand in a busy session. Test the group together and exploring in different directions; accepting a configuration value is not a performance guarantee.
Does backing up the world also preserve character progress?
Enshrouded keeps world progress on the server and character progress on the client. Plan how players will protect their character files as well as the world; copying the server directory alone does not cover both.
Should I run a world-conversion tool against the working save?
Identify the game version, tool compatibility and recovery files first. Convert a separate copy and inspect important structures. Creating an output file successfully is not the same as loading a working world.
How should I organise access for guests and administrators?
Set permissions and passwords for the intended user groups separately. Check who any reserved slots are for. A player who needs to join does not necessarily need administrative or world-editing permissions.
